We did a thing.....

If you don't know, our cat, Millie, died about a year and a half ago. We enjoyed the time without pets, as you could simply leave and have zero worries. However, the kids have been asking for all different types of pets. Hamsters, birds, lizards, another cat, and we finally caved. When the cat search began, we decided that there was a type of cat we wanted. We were really looking for a British Shorthair or a Scottish Straight. There were none in the area, so we looked outside of the valley. We found some in Sacramento, and so began the crazy plan to get the kids an amazing Christmas present. We Facetimed with the person a few times to choose which cat we wanted, and then two days before leaving, we decided to get two, as everything you read says they want a buddy.

On the first day of break, Benji got on a plane, very early in the morning, and flew to Sacramento to meet the person at the airport who was bringing the cats. They did an exchange at baggage claim, and then he turned around and went back through security, got on another plane, and flew home. We told the kids he was out doing last-minute shopping. We were going to take them to Marshalls and have the cats come out on Christmas morning, but we decided it was already a massive amount of change, and brought them home and gave them to the kids early.

When he got home, we had wrapped three presents, a litter box, a scratching post, and a cat bed. We had them all line up and open them. When they figured it out, we had them come to the mudroom and see the adorable little kittens we now have as part of our family. They did hide for the first few weeks, but we were able to get them out as people came to visit, and everyone came to visit. They were quite the draw!

Then we had to name them. Meet Mazie (orange one) and June (grey one).
