I finally have had a chance to breath. School has started, I have 20 fabulous first graders, and today was the first day I worked less than 11 hours in a few weeks. So lets get caught up!
Our growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She or he is busy moving amniotic fluid through his/her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in the lungs begin to develop. The baby's legs are growing longer than his/her arms now, and she/he can move all of their joints and limbs. Although the baby's eyelids are still fused shut, she/he can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at my tummy, for instance, the baby is likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for our baby to taste at this point, but she/he is forming taste buds. Let's hope our baby gets the buds for liking veggies just like his or her parents!
