6 Months

Well, I just read that my uterus is the size of a soccer ball. Fun! Our baby weighs about one and a half pounds and is about 8 1/2 inches long. She has outgrown the cute fruit/veggie references and is now the size of a standard letter. I was thinking this would be much like an ear of corn. Much of her weight is coming from accumulating baby fat, as well as from growing organs, bones, and muscles. By now her tiny face is almost fully formed complete with a full set of eyelashes and eyebrows and a good sprinkling of hair on her head.

Her brain is also growing quickly now, and her taste buds are continuing to develop. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once she hits the outside world.

I really like reading these development updates. We didn't meet Joshua until all this growth had already taken place and it's very interesting for me to learn about his develpment. Thanks!
