Tuesday will start week 36, the ninth month! I spent part of the day organizing a hospital bag for me and the baby. Benji will probably wait until my water breaks to gather up some stuff for himself. I am starting to feel ready at home for the baby to come........now if only I was ready at school.
Our baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that she's about 18 to 20 inches long and tips the scales at about 5 to 6 pounds (this is about a honeydew melon). Because it's so snug in the womb, she isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times she kicks remains the same. Her kidneys are fully developed now, and her liver can process some waste products. Most of her basic physical development is now complete — she'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.
