Keeping Us Busy...One Weekend at a Time

When we moved into this house we knew we had a little yard work to do. We had very little grass and a whole lot of dirt (burm) to work with.
We took it one project at a time and we made a dent in the yard work.
The back corner of our yard was full with overgrown blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and a few other kinds of berries I am still not sure about. I LOVE having berries in my back yard but hated the disaster. My fantastic husband made me two berry boxes to keep them tame. Now we just need some landscaping around them......next summer.  Cooper loves the berries too! He can't stop eating them.
This great play set was one of the many things we loved about this house, but it too needed some work.  The back left corner was open for the kids to fall into the sandbox below and there was no way for the kids to get up to either decks.  So super daddy added a climbing wall, stairs, a slide and finished the decking so there was not longer a big trap to the sandbox. It is so much fun to watch the kids play in their backyard.
Our neighbors gave us two big garden boxes so we could replace the little triangle boxes that were there. So we have our garden again.

Our house had side/back fences but no wing fences.  I liked having the feeling of an open back/front yard....for about three minutes. I could not take my eyes off the kids ( Cooper) for one second. Cooper would take one look at us and run for the pond out front.  Well now we have wing fences with gates so the kids can spend hours playing safely in the backyard, hallelujah!
Do you see my pumpkins? One of my favorite parts of the summer was growing pumpkins with the kids.  They were so much fun to watch take over the yard.

Our house had these really tall grasses in the front that grew over the sidewalk and always looked messy so, they had to go! We now have grass all the way to the sidewalk.

It was a long summer with a ton of work. We love having a back yard that is so much fun for all.
