Day One in Florida.....

Less than 24 hours....and we make our very first trip as parents to the ER.

First lesson learned! When traveling look up directions to the nearest hospital and urgent care before leaving.  My thought is if you do this you will never need to use them.

Lesson number two learned, NO JUMPING ON THE BED! Cooper, our little monkey, decided to jump into the nicely placed pillows on our bed and came down right on the headboard, right between the eyes. Oh the blood! Benji picked him up with that horrible scream and took one look at the cut and stuck his thumb in/on it. He then asked me to get him something and to find the nearest hospital because we needed to go "right now." I brought him some TP to his dismay and finally got what he needed and we loaded in the car with my cousin Julia navigating as Benji was holding Cooper in his arms in the backseat keeping the blood at a minimum. We got into the ER and the charge nurse took one look at it and said "yeah that is too deep for glue." The picture below is after the Dr. squeezed it shut. Benji says that it was much bigger, as I never did look. He kept saying he wished he would have taken a picture.  The ER was good but we figured out really soon that we were not an "emergency." They came and put some numbing cream on Coops face and then he took a two hour nap in B's arms on the bed. We all just sat there and talked and finally the Dr. and an EMT came in to fix him up. He was awesome. He laid there so still in Benji's arms while the EMT held his head. The Dr. did 7 stitches and then he got a Popsicle. The next day Cooper asked if he could go back to get a popsicle! We just had to keep polysporin on it for a 5 days and keep it covered. The sad part was his ability to swim was limited. Every nurse (we have two neighbors and Ashley) have all said that is looks great and that he shouldn't have a scar because he is so young. Wow what a way to start your trip by spending 5 hours in the ER.

Back at the house and showing off his wound.
It never seemed to bother him, he never complained about his head or the bandage on his face (you will see it in the pictures to come).
