The Trip to the Coast

First stop, McMinnville! The drive was flying by and everyone was doing great (nobody even asked for an electronic device) until the Dalles when we came to a stop or a 5mph roll.  It took us about 90 minutes to go 20 miles, I had to pull out my emergency morale boosters!

Once we got to McMinnville, Benji gave all of us a tour of Linfield.  The campus is beautiful and the kids loved the cool trees!

This little one wanted her picture taken at every tree we past.
They called this one the "octopus tree. "

This was Benji reenacting a great picture he has with Marshall, Ashley and Benji all holding Pam up in this exact spot at Benji's Graduation.

We also had a very nice lunch at Donna's house, Benji's worked with her while at Lindfield.  She was so sweet and kind to the kids and we had the best time talking.
After lunch, we headed to an indoor waterpark.  It was fun and the kids had a great time.  Really, the kids would have loved anything we decided to do after being mainly at home for the past year.

We also went to see the Spruce Goose.  It was a great museum, but HOT.  They were in the middle of a heatwave, dubbed the HEAT DOME, and this building did not have AC.  No buildings have AC here as it is really not needed. It was a lot like being in a sauna. In fact, it was so hot we had a hard time finding a restaurant open to eat at.  Poor Benji had a list of places he wanted to eat at and they all closed because of the heat.

This gentleman spent so much time talking to our kids.  They just hung on every word he said.  He actually came up to us later to tell us how great our kids were and that they asked such thoughtful questions (our teacher hearts grew two sizes with that compliment).

Addie could not get over the ashtrays in these old airline seats.  We could not believe how much bigger the seats used to be.

On our way out we decided to be the "cool" parents and let the kids take a ride on this...thing.  Ella and cooper tried their skills at flying a plane and took a roller coaster ride.  This nice man let them take the roller coaster ride for free because it was such a hot day.

Benji and Addie also took a roller coaster ride.

We also went to the space muesum, next door.

After a morning full of fun we drove towards Lincoln City.  It was a very hot Sunday afternoon and we were not the only ones with this idea.
