This is a Benji post!!!
This day was all about me.
I have always had a fascination with space. I want to go to space and if I had the chance I would sell my kids to make it happen.
On this day I was truly a kid in a candy store!
From the beginning I wandered off by myself as no one wanted to take the time to read and listen to every single thing.......HOWEVER, I DID!
I mean the kids had fun......I just wasn't with them as I was engulfed in everything I could see!
We are standing below a rocket and as you walk up you can see inside each section that is used to send it to space. The guy explaining it all was so informative and basically those early astronauts were riding into space strapped to a nuclear bomb.
UNREAL!
There was so much to do and even had a children's place that I appeased the kids with.
This is the Lunar Module 9. One of three remaining Lunar Modules designed for use in the Apollo Program. This one was originally intended to fly on Apollo 15 but when the Lunar Rover was added to the mission this got bumped for an "Extended Lunar Module". This is the same design that landed on the moon that we see in the videos today! Truly amazing.
These are the Blue Origin buildings across the street from Kennedy Space Center. It is Jeff Bezos' play land. It would truly be amazing to have his money and to build your own space shuttle to go to space.
LOOK AT THOSE ROCKETS! THOSE WERE ALL OF THE EARLY ROCETS SENT INTO SPACE!On the bus you can see this building as you drive up and I started freaking out. It is huge. This is where they store all of the shuttles before moving them to the launch pads. When I say it is huge, I mean huge. The entire Roman Coliseum can sit on top of that building!
HUGE!
You come to this spot first and this is where I left my family. This group was there and a guy was giving them all of this information and I peeled off and started to listen.
I am amazed at what we were able to accomplish in such a short time when we started the space race.
Those astronauts were truly explorers of our time and risked so much each time they strapped in.
They sat and waited for me a lot.
This is the actual Shuttle Atlantis! You can see me standing next to it at the top of this post.
The kids really did have fun.....just not as much as me!
Even the moms and grandmas had fun on this slide. They gave you the choice of walking the stairs down or taking this slide. EVERYONE chose the slide.
