Addie did a thing.....

Addie came running in crying, saying her foot hurt. Uncle Marshall and everyone were over, and it took a bit to get her calmed down to even look at it. We assumed she twisted her ankle, and it was a bit swollen and somewhat tender. She said she couldn't put pressure on it, but we still couldn't tell how bad it was. She told us she was climbing a tree and was hanging on the lowest branch when she dropped and landed on a root, twisting it.

The next morning, we asked her to put weight on it, but she couldn't. So, we made an appointment for her to go to the doctor and get X-rays. Well, she broke her foot. So the doctor told us to keep it wrapped, get her a boot, and crutches.

This was the first few nights! Such a great dad.

She had to wear the boot 24 hours a day, even while she slept. We bought two boots, one for outdoor use and one for indoor use. We couldn't handle her walking at school and then putting that same boot in her bed.

After the first follow-up with the Doctor, it was not getting better and, in fact, had gotten worse. They initially told us she only needed to use the crutches for a week and then could walk using the boot.
That is what we did for the first 3 weeks.
Well, that didn't work, and she was put on crutches for another MONTH!
The crutches were a bit too much for her to use the entire time, so a friend loaned us a scooter for her to use instead. That was amazing, and she zipped around the neighborhood with it, to and from school, and even while shopping.
