Well, it didn't work!

The cloud of sickness is still over our house...make it go away!!!!!!

When people ask where we went on vacation this summer, I am going to answer St. Al's

This time it is an injury.  Wednesday afternoon Cooper told us he broke his leg.  We laughed and said, "No buddy you did not break your leg, you're just fine." When we asked why he thought he broke his leg he told us he was jumping off the couch (an endless issue and trouble for Cooper). I gave him a short lecture on jumping on/off couches and beds and we went on our way to get haircuts and dinner. He was fine.  Walked all around downtown Nampa without even a limp.

Thursday morning Coop would not even get out of bed.  We had to carry him everywhere and no matter how hard we tried he would not put weight on his right leg. He cried when he moved his leg.  We took the Pam stance of 24 hours before going to the Dr., though Benji still fights with this due to his separated shoulder in 9th grade that she made him wait for. He would always bring this up to her and she would always say "I didn't know and I was making sure". He knows now that she was making sure he wasn't faking it.

He spent much of his day on the couch and in the stroller.

Friday morning Cooper woke up and nothing had changed.  Made a doctors appointment for 11:20 and  finally made it back home at 3:45.

After the first X-ray and back to the dr. office, the X-ray showed nothing wrong with his upper leg.

Off to the second X-ray and back to the dr. office, and again nothing showed up.

Next an ultrasound and right away you could see fluid on the hip. Quick run to the car to charge my phone so I could update Benji and drive across the parking lot to grab a little snack (by this time we were starving).

Back upstairs to the dr.'s office (I am telling you all of this because I had to carry the 37 lb boy everywhere we went) so the dr. could tell us the next step.....blood work, ugh!

Back downstairs and this was the part I was dreading, but he handled it like a champ. So brave!!!

After the blood work we were free to go home and Dr. Townsend called us later with the plan.

He is to stay off his leg all weekend and if it still hurts on Monday we will be referred to the Orthopedic doctor. The Orthopedic doctor has already taken a look at his X-rays and ultrasound and feels like the fluid is due to an injury and will most likely heal on its own.  But, if not it could also be a hairline fracture that did not show up in the X-rays.  We also need to watch for fever or redness in the hip because infection has not yet been ruled out.

Cooper woke up this morning (Saturday, Benji's 36th Birthday) with a spirit ready to go but a leg that still hurts a lot.  This may be a very long weekend trying to keep this kid entertained without moving.
